Discussion 2

Discuss how much computer access you had in high school as a student, and how those computers were used.  Now, if you were in the same situation as your high school teachers, is there anything you'd have done differently (if high school was a long time ago for you, like it was for me, pretend you're teaching school now) to take advantage of limited computer resources?
In high school, I did not have tons of access to computers. I took two computer classes but that was about all I had in high school. The majority of the classrooms had two computers in them but one was the teachers and the majority of the time the other one was broken. We usually had to go to the library to use the computers if we need to print something. Usually the Libran would be rude about letting us print stuff out as well. I know one of my teachers brought her own computer and printer from home and just used her own materials. If I had little access to computers as a teacher, I would utilize the one I had to its fullest. I would allow students to take turns on it or let them work in groups. I would not give them assignments dealing with computers if they did not have adequate access to one though.

Discussion 1

In most all classrooms now days, they have some sort of technology used on a regular basis. Teachers either have promethean boards or interwrite boards to use.  Technology is all around us and there is no way to stop it. It is a great thing in some cases and in others, not so much. Technology tends to make things much easier when trying to show students things on the internet and things like that but in some way s it has made everyone a little lazy.
I am in hopes that in my classroom, I will have some sort of technology to use with my students like a promethean board. They makes lesson extremely easy, everything is right there at hand to pull up on the screen and show the students. It would make lesson preparation much easier. The only problem is if something happened to the computer it would make it a little difficult to continue with the lesson. I would have to make sure I had a hard copy of all the materials needed for each lesson just in case something was to go wrong or the power was to go out.  Technology can makes things much easier though.

Reflection on blogging

I found our first assignment rather easy. I am not one to blog very much. I do not really like writing about myself. I feel that my life is really not important enough to post for others to read about. I usually do not have that much to say. I do however, like using it in the classroom. One of my professors in college allowed us to blog rather than write thirty papers. I feel that blogging is much easier and more “with the times” so to speak. I think students are more likely to want to blog about something rather than write a paper about it. It is basically the same thing, but blogging would be something fun and interesting to do. I will probably not be able to allow my students to blog very much due to them being so young but I think it would be great to have a classroom blog. I could allow the students to help me with it and have it public for their parents to see and stay up to date with what is going on in our class.
